Dear students,
All groups: (reminder) you can retrieve the audio reports and the handouts from this link. Sometimes, this link does not work, try from another computer (if you can) or email me : I will send these audio reports and the documents by email.
1/ Monday groups only: I have postponed to next week (November 10) the short test on Einstein (PBS).
2/ Monday groups only: Next Monday (Nov 10), we will rapidly correct the first 4 pages of handout on the phrasal verbs. Bring your handout and your answers.
3/ Monday groups only: We will also have a class discussion on the report from the BBC titled The Brain Drain From Africa. I will collect (on a random basis) a sample of your preparation work on this report (the questions and their answers and the main/important ideas) and it will be graded. Absent students for unjustified reasons will automatically get a zero.
4/ Monday groups only: As said this morning, I confirm that there WILL be class next Monday (November 10). Absentees on that day will automatically get a zero on their test on Einstein and their absence will count twice (unless they can seriously justify their absence)!
5/ All groups: The following week (Nov 17 & 18) will be devoted to the American elections: if some of you find some interesting/insightful/funny videos and audio reports online, they can submit the link(s) to me. They should not be too long and should not exceed 20 minutes. We may use them for November 17 & 18. Of course, these reports should be in English!
6/ All groups: If you're interested in celebrating Obama's (most probable) victory: we can meet in Les Champs Elysées tomorrow evening (Tuesday, Nov 4) at around 7 PM. We can meet there in front of the Virgin Megastore (at around 7pm)., I hope most of you will be able to come. Suggestion: maybe you could bring banners and placards to celebrate his (most probable) victory with messages in English rendering the equivalent phrase "Bush: casse-toi, pauv'con!". Here is the link to some equivalent versions in English of this "infamous" phrase by our president:

7/ We will try to only speak in English tomorrow evening. If you cannot come, no problem, of course, there will be no consequences at all, but it will be fun to meet in a different environment and with all these banners and placards not only celebrating Obama's victory but also...Bush's very last days!!
I apologise for announcing this meeting quite late but it was a late suggestion by one of your classmate today and I thought it was a very good suggestion If you know any of your ckassmates, do tell them and do bring your friends/relatives as well! The more, the merrier! ("Plus on est de fous, plus on rit!!...)
