Dear students,
Last Tuesday (March 17), I had class with my L3 students in the Boutruche library from 8am to 10am. At the end of the class, Mrs Crouzet-Pavan who was passing by noticed that I was using this library to have class there and she got (very) angry at me because I was using it even if it was NOT occupied by other instructors or professors of the History department...!!
I was not using it illegally but because the administration had given me the key. Needless to add that I did report this "incident" to the staff of the History department and to our director, Professor Luc, that this behaviour was very unfriendly and unacceptable considering the circumstances and the extreme difficulty of finding places and rooms to have a "normal" class these days.
From next week, after our next Monday class in this library, Mrs Crouzet-Pavan has decided that she would not allow us to have class there anymore even if the room is NOT occupied by other instructors and professors at the same time. Let me remind you that this library is regularly used by the medieval history instructors and professors for THEIR classes and seminars.
But, this room is not occupied all the time during the week and it is particularly when it is not used by them that I would like to use it for my students and was using it last Tuesday.
I hope you will email Mr Luc and Mr Romanacce (make a copy for me) to express your strong disagreement and strong opposition to that very unfair and unfriendly decision by Mrs Crouzet-Pavan alone.
If I do not have the support of the students to have access to that room, we will never get this room again, so it is VERY important that you write to Professors Luc and Romanacce about this and ask them to make this room available for us, specially and particularly when it is available and not used by other instructors and professors at the same time.
In case, this decision is maintained and nothing changes, we will have to resort to "other" options like sit-ins for example...
So, next Monday (March 23), we will have class in the Boutruche library (Mrs Crouzet-Pavan has allowed us to use it for next Monday only because it was decided before she ran into all this...), but on Tuesday (March 24), if the rooms remain locked at La Sorbonne, normally, we will not have the Boutruche library, even if nobody is using it from 1pm to 2pm because this is what Mrs Crouzet-Pavan has decided, and the same for the following week and that concerns the Monday groups as well.
So it is VERY important that you express your opposition to Professors Luc and Romanacce so that we can have a "normal" class in these very disrupted circumstances...
Best regards,
Mounir Nassor (mounirnassor@yahoo.co.in)
PS: (Reminder) There is a test on the audio reports (see previous post) next Monday (March 23) and possibly on Tuesday (March 24) if we can have the Boutruche library again for Tuesday...
