Dear M1 students,
Your grades will be posted some time soon ie by next Wednesday.
While reading some of your papers, I have noticed that some of the weakest students in English have not made any progress at all despite my stern warnings during the first semester and despite the very low grades I had given to them.
I am in no mood at all to be generous or to be somewhat understanding by giving them "acceptable" grades like 10/20 because there were strikes and all.
While reading some of these papers, I have the feeling that they have not tried at all to catch up or make up for their (very) low level and their huge difficulties in English.
At least, during the past months, they should have done some training exercices on their own to avoid making these very basic mistakes only students in 6ème would make. And to make things worse, I very well remember telling them about this during the first semester when returning their papers. But, it seems it all was useless and had been heard by deaf ears because they continue making these very same mistakes they were doing several months ago and that too in sheer carelessness.
Their carelessness will be very severely sanctioned and I will not give them "acceptable" grades. Some papers will simply get zero because of the tons of mistakes and deadly mistakes they continue doing despite having all the ressources at home (grammar books, spell-checkers, internet based exercises and lessons, etc.) in the case of take-home exam papers.
To those students who really feel lost in English, there still is time to catch-up before the end of the semester and there are tons of ressources available and training exercices they could do on their own and there often are corrections in the grammar exercice books and on the internet.
But, as far your gardes are concerned, do not expect me to be kind and generous at all, specially when you had already been told (and individually to boot) about all this a few months ago.
At least, you have been warned once more.
Best regards,
Mounir Nassor
